Delaney has once again gotten her ears pierced. We have decided that the third times a charm. In the past here ears have gotten so badly infected that we ended up letting them close. (And it wasn't from lack of cleaning either.) But we have our fingers crossed that this time will be different.

is what we called a park.

Today was the big day.

We loaded up the van and went to the recycling center.

They ended up with 12.25 each.

Poor Man's Pool

Summer Vacation for me

means hanging out with my kiddos

EVERY DAY!

We always enjoy our time

and try not to spend too much extra money.

This year we did the best.

We got ourselves

(what we call)

a poor man's pool.

And it has been absolutely

FABULOUS.

The pool has been used ALMOST every day

which helped save on the cost of gas to all the parks and beaches we usually visited.

******And we need to give a special thanks to Joel-he leveled the yard in hundred degree weather so we could have our pool.

The next Chapter or just a Whole new book

The Easter fun began early today. Claire got up around 5:50am to see what the Easter Bunny had left her. Colton and Delaney woke up shortly after. They worked together to find the Easter Eggs that EB hid. For some Reason EB likes to hide our Real Eggs that we color so we HAVE to find them all or we would end up with a rotten egg. Luckily we found them all and had enough time to make it to 8 church with Grandma and Grandpa. I thought for sure we would have to go to the later mass, but thanks to my early risers, we made it.

And FYI.....
Colton saw EB last night. He informed us that EB is hard to see
because he is soooo fast
he looks like a blur.

And Delaney,
well she saw his shadow on the wall

My thoughts......

Came upon this song on another blog a while back and it's words have been stuck in my head ever since. It's a great song with a great message.

*Now I won't deny the worst you could say about me....
These words ring true in my heart.

I know what is said about people who have been divorced (and then add to it twice like me), who have more than one baby Daddy and not with either, who don't make enough to support their own children, and the list can go on.

And any and all of it can be said about me and I won't deny it but i don't believe it all either.
(Well the factual part I will- two baby daddies...yes. But some of the words we have all heard used to describe people with two baby daddies...NO WAY! etc.)

*But I'm not defined, By mistakes that I've made Because God says of me I am not who I was I am being remade....

These words remind me that because Jesus Died on the cross and rose again so i would be forgiven for the mistakes that I've made and each day I am remade.

*Who I thought I was, And who I thought I had to be, I had to give them both up Cause neither were willing to ever believe........I'm dearly loved. Too long I have lived in the shadows of shame......
Because my less than perfect life is out there for anyone to see (not skeletons in the closet that's for sure) it made it somewhat easy to NOT try to pretend it was anything different. But it did take me a long time to be ok with it all and to feel equal rather than less.

*Forgiven beloved, Hidden in Christ, Made in the image of the Giver of Life, Righteous and holy, Reborn and remade, Accepted and worthy this is our new name,This is who we are now...
Easter reminds me of it all. That I do not have to feel bad when someone questions me about my hyphenated last name, I do not have to feel shame when I explain to someone that my children are with their Dads' (plural) for the weekend, etc. It just is what it is and I should not be worrying about what others think of me. I need to focus on being a good person, loving my children, and enjoying each day that I am given. Live, Laugh, Love!!!!!!!

Spring Break 2010 went fast.

We had Uncle Matt's and Aunt Alexandra's (Soon to be Aunt) wedding shower.

Mom went out on the town after the shower with her new sister (in law).

We made it to Magi Quest at the MOA.

The kids saw How to Tame a Dragon the movie.

Rode bikes, hit the parks, had friends over, and played games.

EASTER Festivities.

In about two Minutes it will officially be March. A month, that a year ago, changed my life forever. And as much as I want to keep saying that good is happening for us and yadda yadda yadda. I have to be honest and say that I wish March 18th would have somehow been skipped. Because right now, I would rather do without that day!

But hopefully someday, I will be able to say that although March 18th brought trials, the good that came from the trials made it all worth it.

Max got into a bit of trouble the other day.

First he chewed up Hubby's phone charger WHILE it was plugged in!

Next came the bout of diarrhea.

How often are we wrapped up in the circumstances of our every day life and allow them to control our emotions and moods?

I'm working on this- I want to be less moody but it "ain't" easy.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Philippians 4:4

"But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

Here is my plan of action to help rid me of my "moods" and be "Happy"
1. Beware of human nature.
Human nature causes the insatiable desire for more. We need more of everything and aren't happy and aren't satisfied without MORE!

2. Watch out for comparisons. Comparison's Kill!
They kill your heart, joy, and your feeling of adequacy.

3. Adjust expectations.
Expectations can undermine gratitude - and gratitude is the KEY to happiness. We need to be thankful for where we are in life and the blessings that God has given us! Rarely do our expectations get met the way that we want them to. Rarely. (So each day when I wake up and realize that my "problems" are still there I start making a mental list of all I have to be thankful for- and it works- my mood shifts-for a while anyway.)

4. Look out for the missing tile syndrome.
Imagine you have just redone your bathroom. It turned out amazing. But unfortunately you were short one small tile for the floor. So in one corner-(behind the toilet,) there is a missing tile. If you don't point it out you (and everyone else) will see the bathroom and all its greatness. If what you point out or focus on is the missing tile- that is what you will always see! If you fixate on the missing element of your life, you will totally miss the greatness of what's around you! You need to realign your focus so you can always see what you DO have instead of what you don't!

5. Know your genes, biochemistry, and when you need "extra" help
Yes, depression is real. No, that doesn't mean that you are suffering from it. Understand it, know the signs, and get help if needed. FIGHT your way to happiness! Don't settle for what the world expects you to be, but fight with everything in you for who God has made you to be!

No we won't ALWAYS be happy, nor should we be...

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace." When I can't sleep I like to go in my kiddo's rooms and check on them. Sometimes I crawl in bed with one of them and snuggle. And somehow then, I am able to fall asleep. But tonight I have checked in on Claire, checked in on Delaney, and wishing I could check in on Colton but.... He is not here. So I am going to crawl into his bed and miss him. Love you Colton. Friday will not be here fast enough!!!

Over MEA we had a bonfire and made s'mores with friends and set off a pop rocket!

Life seemed to be getting a bit out of control (like it does every year at the beginning of the school year). So I took a brief vacation from everything accept my family and my work. And it has been good. I do feel bad of the lack of pictures I have to show for the last month and a half. I do feel bad that I do not have it all documented like I would like. But the break was needed. I just didn't have the energy to do it all.

But what I did do- was spend a lot of TIME with my family and take the necessary breather to revive myself again.

So what have WE been up to since the end of August.

* We spent some time with family in Duluth

*We went to the zoo.

*Uncle Danny visited and stayed with us. (Bobaloo)

*We have made it to a couple family movies

*Started the new school year. (Colton 3rd grade, Delaney 2nd grade)

*Learned to play Munchkin (Colton Loves it)

*Had a few Girl dates

*Enjoyed Summer in September

*Made it to Family fun Night

*Had the first conferences of the school year

*Working on getting Max Dog trained

*Went out to eat at Bonfire

*Started Religion classes (and yes, Mom gave in and is teaching the classes again)

*Started Boyscouts

*Colton had an awesome football season

*And overall-just trying to make the best of each day

Our Nana passed away at the end of summer vacation.

(Hubby's Mamma)

And although we are happy that she is with Clarence

(She missed him so)

We MISS her down here with us.

She was THIS familys biggest fan.

Nana loved her Grandchildren to pieces.

They absolutely could do no wrong in her eyes.

And they always got what they wanted.

Nana taught us to JUST be happy with what you got.

She thought everything was the small stuff.

So don't sweat the small stuff.

We're trying Nana.

Swimming at the community center

For the past three summers,

(since Claire was a newborn)

we have used the month of August for some major swim time.

Swim Lessons and just a whole lot of swimming.

By August I am feeling lazy so taking them to the community center for lessons and swim time

is EASY entertainment.

No worries of sunburn and it feels good to be out of the heat of August.

Well except for this summer- the heat of August has been Nothing.

But swimming at the community center has been a great way to end the summer!

It was our first time to the ping pong ball drop. For the big kids the plane fly over head and drop ping pong balls and everyone runs to collect. For the littler one they just dump them from up high and the lil tikes run around gathering the balls up. We will be sure to go again!!

Delaney- Why, you do?

Me- You have natural highlights you don't need too.

Delaney- So do you, you have brown hair with gray streaks.

Me- And that's exactly why I highlight my hair.
So when you get blond hair with gray streaks you can highlight or color yours too! (Sigh)

I had my Ol'roommate from college over yesterday. We worked together while we were in Highschool and the first two years of college and then we lived together while going to St. Cloud State. It was fun to get together with our kids, catch up, and make plans. We have some unfinished business. We were always suppose to go to the rocky horror picture show together but never did. So we made a plan and we are gonna do it. (It is something she has done BEFORE that I have never experienced)

Happy 2nd Birthday Claire!

I can't believe you are already two.

Claire's Second Birthday was FABULOUS!! She woke up announcing it was her BIRTHDAY AND SHE WANTED CAKE.

We had some Birthday Visitors (Debbie and Zeus), ran through the sprinkler, and had a BBQ.

We opened presents. Claire lost interest once she opened the singing Sponge bob Square pants Card, she LOVES that Card.

And then of course we had CAKE, CAKE, CAKE. (That's all the little girl wanted was BIRTHDAY cake for her Birthday.)

We are on our second week of summer and loving every minute of it. No it hasn't been very warm, and yes I would like it warmer, but who wants to waste time worrying about that when you can be having fum with your family. September is right around the corner and we are determined to make the most of it.

We have been to the Zoo twice, the library twice, bike riding galore, hit the beach once,(even though it was only 70) made it to the mall, saw a movie, got our puppy, went to graduation parties, played at four different parks, had a fire, and both Colton and Delaney have finished one chapter book. And we still have two and half months for more FUN. This just may be our best summer ever!

We are so THANKFUL it is summer!!

School year 2008-2009 has come to an end. My ~~babies~~ school agers are now in second and third grade.

I remember when I first started teaching and would think about how some day my own kids would be doing a state report, etc. And now it is actually happening, no slowing down, they just keep growing up.

But growing up into two great school aged kids, ~~not~~ to brag!

Okay I do want to brag a little. At the awards ceremony Delaney received the honors reading award, academic excellence award, and 100 accelerated reader point award. (Which only one other first grader in IGH has ever earned. Way to go Delaney) And Colton received the honors reading award and the two mile run award. So, in case you were wondering, they got a total of five awards. I am one proud Mom!

On the last day of school Delaney and I joined some friends for a girl Day at the MOA. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year. We ate at the American Girl Restauraunt(Which ended up being more expensive of a meal than I am generally accustomed to) and Delaney and her friends got their nails done at the nail salon. (Cool summer colors with fancy flowers to boot) What a day!!

Memorial Day Weekend 09

We packed up and headed to Duluth for Delaney's Birthday request and Memorial Weekend. We had a much needed break from our day to day life.
We left on Friday, we pulled the kids out of school early-they were thrilled, and headed up north. We unpacked, ordered a pizza, and brought it to Nana's for dinner. THEN we hit the WATER PARK. SOOOO FUN!!

Saturday Morning Hubby went golfing with his friend Johnny (he is also Delaney's Godfather) and the kids and I went back to the water park for more FUN! (It was a little nerve racking being by myself and trying to keep an eye on the three of them, but it was still FUN!) Then we went for a ride along the Lake and stopped every now and then to do some rock collecting. After our drive it was off to a BBQ at Uncle Don and Dave's house. (They live next door to each other so we just consider it one place) Colton had fun playing his favorite sport (FOOTBALL) and Delaney was beyond thrilled to see her Fairy Godmother Deanna. Claire of course, was the Belle of the Ball! And then it was back to the WATER PARK FUN!!

Sunday we packed up and went to the beach Hubby use to life Guard at. Can't wait to go when it is a bit warmer out. I think there may have still been ice on the lake!! HA Ha HA

It was a great mini vacation, just too bad it had to be soooo short :(

On May 20th I tucked my six year old Delaney in for the last time for the following day we would wake up and she would be seven.

Before going to bed I checked on my six year old as if to freeze time so I could remember Exactly what she looked like at six. (Beautiful)

Delaney is my constant reminder that unplanned events in our lives can turn out to be some of our greatest blessings.
